7 strategies for more productive non-profit board meetings

Updated: Sep 30, 2021

In a recent article by Joe Garecht from thefundraisingauthority.com seven strategies are offered to make board meetings more productive and successful:

  1. Start with your Mission

  2. Have an Agenda

  3. Send a pre-meeting packet (put it in your online portal)

  4. Start and end meetings on time

  5. Make board meetings about decisions, not updates

  6. Don’t let one or two board members dominate

  7. Ask for action

‘Going into the Cloud’ will allow you to post agendas and send pre-meeting information. Members can prepare and clarify information prior to the meeting. They can even start discussing some ideas prior to the meeting. Time spent in the board meeting itself can then be concentrated on making decisions instead of spending time on updates.
